Description

Ruby is a unique hybrid cultivar crossing Burma Assam variety and the native indigenous wild Camellia strain.  It is the result of nearly 50 years of research by the Taiwanese Tea Research and Extension Station. The hybrid cultivar is named Ruby for its rare and unusual fragrance and palate. Ruby Dew is made by the top grade buds and leaves selected from different harvests in the summer.

J.N. Tseng is the 3rd generation owner of the family estate and is a member of the County’s natural farming society.  We know each other by the introduction of a Zen Buddhist monk mastering the art of tea.  The tea leaves are carefully hand-picked, then wilted naturally, rolled, bruised and left to oxidize on covered bamboo trays until the next day when they are roasted, pan-baked and dried. The natural farming and complete hand-made process produce the best quality among all.

Simply smell the dry leaves; you would be surprised by the variety of natural fruity scents. (Absolutely no artificial flavor powder added) Once infused, the tea leaves unfurl beautifully and give hearty aromas of citrus peel, mint and cinnamon.  Have a sip, enjoy those complex flavors and you would probably find the subtle aroma of single malt whiskey aged in Bourbon-barrel. The finish is long and elegant. Truly delightful!

Ruby Dew is the tea with incredibly deep characters. She is an appealing young lady, and a rare ruby gem with different shining facets of attractions!
